Reiki is a holistic healing technique in which a trained practitioner channels life force energy, known as ki or chi, into the recipient's energetic field using hand position slightly over various regions of the body. This process aims to positively influence the recipient's emotional, physical, and mental well-being by addressing and removing negative blocks. The result is a reset of the auric field, restoring the natural and powerful flow of life force energy. Reiki can be described as a replenishment of positive energy.
In addition to its role in addressing emotional, physical, and mental blocks, Reiki is often described as a gentle and non-invasive healing technique. It is based on the concept that life force energy flows through all living beings and is vital to their well-being. When this energy is disrupted or blocked, it can lead to feelings of imbalance, stress, and illness.
When a client arrives for a session, the process begins with them reclining on a comfortably warm massage table, fully clothed. They are then draped with a blanket and an eye covering is provided for added relaxation. The session commences with a prayer, setting healing intentions that are spoken aloud. This is followed by a relaxation phase aimed at releasing tension in the physical body, facilitating a transition from the external world to an inward focus on inner peace and stillness.
The healing process starts at the crown chakra, located at the top of the head, and flows downward toward the feet. Specific hand positions are used, with hands placed above the body to facilitate the flow of positive energy. Each area of the body receives ample attention, with additional focus on areas requiring extra healing.
After addressing the energy centers, known as chakras, the auric field is cleansed using various tools. The session may also incorporate sound and crystal therapy, involving the placement of crystals on the body and the use of therapeutic singing bowls to promote vibrational frequency coherency.
Reiki sessions can last between 60-90 minutes. If you are someone who comes often for a recharge, sessions may be in the shorter range of this time-frame.
Reiki sessions are currently $55, well under the average price of other practitioners. Additional donations and/or tips are accepted to help continue this work for our community and provide a healthy, sacred space to host these sessions.
The effects of a Reiki session can be experienced immediately afterward and may continue to be felt over time. Each individual's response to Reiki is unique. While we often seek tangible evidence of mental or physical changes resulting from Reiki treatment, much of the healing occurs at a subconscious level. Our conscious minds are typically engaged in analyzing, investigating, and rationalizing thoughts, but in the case of Reiki, the healing process often transcends these conscious efforts, making it challenging to quantify the results.
Following a Reiki session, you may notice a shift in your perception of situations or events, feeling more relaxed, calm, and present. Your senses may become heightened, and you may experience increased sensitivity to touch, taste, and sight. Emotional transitions may feel more manageable, and you may sense a release from emotional repression. It is common to feel dehydrated and tired after a session, so it is advisable to hydrate with water promptly.
These effects typically last from a few hours to up to two days after the session. It is beneficial to remain open to the effects of Reiki and acknowledge the synergy between your body and mind with the energy flow of Reiki.
After your session, you can engage in reflective practices such as journaling, meditation, creating art, or taking a gentle walk in nature. Engaging in self-care activities will help prolong the benefits of Reiki.
The frequency of returning to Reiki or Sound Healing sessions can vary depending on your individual needs and goals. Some people find benefit in regular sessions, such as once a week or once every few weeks, to maintain balance and support their overall well-being. Others may choose to schedule sessions as needed, based on specific issues or challenges they are facing.
It is recommended to listen to your body and intuition when deciding how often to return for sessions. If you notice that you feel more balanced, relaxed, and energized after a session and these effects last for a significant amount of time, you may consider spacing out your sessions more. On the other hand, if you find that you benefit greatly from the sessions and feel that they help you manage stress, emotions, or physical symptoms, you may choose to have sessions more frequently.
Ultimately, the frequency of sessions should be based on what feels right for you and supports your overall health and well-being. It can also be helpful to discuss this with your Reiki or Sound Healing practitioner, as they can provide guidance based on their experience and your individual needs.
